SCPS Lower School has available funds in the technology budget. What do you need to confidently integrate technology into your teaching and positively enhance the learning environment of your students?
I would love to be able to access my itunes account on my laptop or to have an ipod player that would enable playing classical music in the art room that I own digitally, but not on a CD.
I would love to wait until after the tech conference...to see what is new and to get ideas as to how to use items that we have. How much time do we have? How big can we dream?
I would love to be better trained to use all the neat stuff we already have. Perhaps, we could pay Angie to teach teachers more about what we already have.
I think that our money is best spent on training our teachers. I feel like we have been putting so much time and money into getting stuff that not all of our teachers know what to do with the stuff!
I really feel we have lots of great technology, but we don't have the training to use all we have. I want to have a sub hired for the day or multiple days over the course of the year so that the teachers can then learn how to use what we have and can plan how we are going to use. This learning and planning time is critical in maximizing the benefits of the technology we already have. Now if who ever is in charge of how this money is spent is only willing to by more stuff, then I would want a digital microscope, more computers in my class (at least 4), and another full-time technology coordinator to help with all our technology needs like training, teaching, fixing things that are broken, etc. etc. etc.
I HATE BLOGGING BOTH IN THEORY AND PRINCIPAL. I will respond this way because you asked us to do so. I would like to know about software to use that will integrate with the Smartboard. What about student-created activities? I would like some help in planning for this. I would also like a camera (?) to show opaque objects.
I would love more training for SMART board. I would also like to see digital microscopes and other science teaching tools...I look into it and then be more specific :)
I would like to see student person computers. Could we make the campus a "wireless" campus?
I also would like to see more training for teachers on the technology we already have. I feel that we have been blessed this year with so much technology, but it does not do any good if we are not properly trained on the equipment and software. I know that there are so many things to do with a SMART Board and I do not begin to know the half of it.
And one more thing....I would like each teacher to have a document camera...very cool uses and really can make it easy for kids to see up on the Smart Board what you are trying to show them in a book. Lots and lots of applications.
A document camera for the art room would be incredible. I own so many terrific color plates that I wish were large enough for all of the students to see from their seats!
Teachers need more training. It would be very helpful for teachers to be able to observe other teachers who "have taken to the smartboard" teaching various lessons using it.
Using technology to impact today's youth is an important part of instruction in the classroom. I strive to serve teachers a healthy batch of technology tools they can easily implement into their lessons each week. I've been an elementary educator for 18 years and have now taught every core subject from grades PreKindergarten through fifth grade. Since 2002, I've served as the Technology Coordinator and have earned my MEdIT in Instructional Technologies. Native to the Adirondack Mountains in New York, I now call the flat coastline of Georgia "home."

I would like to have some updated student computers. Is there enough money for this?

I would love to have more tech support, maybe someone to help us figure out how we can better integrate technology into what we are alreay doing.
