How did you use your projector today?

Hi All!
I want to create a little space on the Internet just for us. Now that projectors are on their way to getting hooked into the ceilings permanently, I was thinking that we should really get started sharing the ways to successfully use them to teach.

So - How did you use your projector today? Let's start a list. Maybe we can create a "Top Ten Ways to use a Projector to Teach" list?? (I know that some projectors are in the computer lab closet and unavailable to you - please use this time to read about fellow teacher successes and plan for the future :-)

I scanned our Language page in, and we took turns putting the correct answers on the smartboard. We are also tracking the tropics using nhc.noaa.gov site. I just project the web page on the smartboard and navigate using the smartboard. We are having a blast and learning so much about what "steer" the storms.

The third grade team has scanned in all the reading transparencies and science transparencies as well as all our D.O.L and anything else we previously had to use an overhead projector for. Now we all have returned our overhead projectors to the media center and just use the Epson? projector. It is so much more convenient and saves space in my classroom.

I haven't done anything yet, but I am thrilled to read about everyone else's ideas! My projector is in the computer lab closet, but I can't wait to use it! Thanks Angie for helping us share our ideas! Mandy

I use the SMART board in almost every class that I teach. It is another "tool" that I incorporate into the lesson similar to the way I use the stereo, white board, VCR, posters/visuals, etc. If the lesson is enhanced by the "tool", I use it. Examples: Going to websites, geography contests (www.sheppardsoftware.com), Muzzy interactive software, Hello-world.com, Images of places in other times or places, Google Earth, rates of exchange at banks, features of different countries, different types of people, family trees, authentic Spanish people talking and singing, etyomology searches (dictionary.com), watching the Roman Empire "grow" over time, and much more.

I love using the projector since it has been mounted in the Media Center. I will use it for dvds, videos, and have already used it to teach the card catalog and Reading Counts with my classes. Here's hoping we go wireless in the Media Center soon so it will be easier to use with my laptop - not so many wires and hook-ups!

I frequently use the projector/SMARTboard combo with Pearson. I think that it helps for the students to see the actual page that they are working on. I also use the ETools. They love it!

I am still having a little trouble with my projector and sound... but we're working on that!

I used my projector today to facilitate discussion for the upcoming election. My class navigated through the "official" mock election ballot. Since we had the projector the discussion and explanations were easier to to follow, especially for the visual learner. I look forward to "daisy chaining" so we can be more interactive with our SMART board in the future!

I used the projector today to show my students the map of the pilgrims route to America - go to Scholastic's First Thanksgiving website and you can take your class on a tour of the plymouth colony, tour the ship, and lots of other cool things!

I use my projector daily in math...even if to only check homework. It is a very useful tool to use with Pearson Success Net.

In Art, we created line art on the Smart Board at the www.nga.gov National Art Gallery site. In French, we watched Muzzy and played Muzzy Games!

I use it for the Pearson math to check homeworkk quickly and to check the daily Spiral Math. I love using the "gallery" for vocabulary definition and for events listing event in social studies. The "Vortex" is great for categorizing.
